Education day for the cultivation of mushrooms in logs

Practical workshop for the cultivation of mushrooms in logs aimed at the recovery of pruning wood intended for burning, with the consequent reduction of CO2 and with the potential to generate green economic activities based on the production of edible mushrooms.

Location: Sierra de Fuentes
Date: January 29 and 30, 2022

During the conference we have shared this technique, emphasizing the importance of using locally available resources to take advantage of the cultivation of edible and medicinal mushrooms.

Some species of fungi are saprophytic, which allows us to manage a crop using, among other possible resources, dead wood. This is the case of Lentinula edodes (Shiitake), an excellent edible mushroom with medicinal properties. This is also the case of the fungus Agrocibe aegerita (poplar mushroom).

The workshop was attended by members and their families. During two morning sessions we have shared information on the cultivation of mushrooms for the health of people and ecosystems.
